Shavuot of the Hebrew month of Sivan, corresponding to late May or early June. Shavuot marks the conclusion of the Counting of the Omer and the day the Torah was given at Mount Sinai.
Shavuot is one of the "Shalosh Regalim" - the three Biblical pilgrimage festivals mandated by the Torah, given by God to the Jewish nation at Mount Sinai.
Shavuot is also strongly connected to the season of the grain harvest in Israel. In ancient times, the grain harvest lasted seven weeks and was a season of gladness. The gladness began with the harvesting of the barley during Passover, and ended with the harvesting of the wheat at Shavuot.
This video was shot during the 2007 Shavuot fesival in a small country side village in Israel named Kefar Netter.
This celebration is the remains of the ancient Biblical festival.

  • If you could also recommend other creative sounding Hebrew music like this. I don't know if you notice but I find many musicians copy alot of sounds I find only in Jewish music...it seems the blessing of creativity is also on the Jewish people. I love Israel! Ill go someday!

  • The songs in the video are a "chain" of popular Shavuot folk songs. I got it's soundtrack from a friend and, unfortunately, it had no credit. I even looked on the web for the original but couldn't find it. sorry :(

  • i think that Ofra Haza sings the first song originally.

  • My mom is from Kfar Netter but left many years ago. She will love this video. Great film segment. Thank you very much!

  • @ZviJ1 OK THANX

  • @RONIDC1979 This is not offending me personally. You compromise your apology by cramming your JC and ancient Church yet more into the fray. If I had been the clip owner I'd have simply removed your comments. I call on the owner to do so.

  • @RONIDC1979 when will you and your cohorts learn to keep your Xtian propaganda to yourselves?? This is a Jewish clip. The Xtian myths, bedtime stories and fairy tales have their place on YouTube, but not in spaces like these.
