Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE recites Sukhmani Sahib in her melodious voice. The aspirants who cannot read Punjabi can read along in Hindi and can also learn Punjabi with the help of Hindi as the captions are given in both languages. Extra diacritical marks (given in the original script for grammer and translation) that are not pronounced in reciting the Bani, are removed from Hindi script to make the reciting pure and easy for the aspirants. Bibiji recorded the recitation of this Bani in 1993 for her Talking Book of "Sukhmani Sahib". For her outstanding contributions to religious and cultural literature for children born and bred in the western hemisphere, she has been honoured by many Sikh organisatins including Shromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar and Dehli Gurdwara Parbandhak Committre. She was awarded "Sharomani Bal Sahitkar" award by Punjab Bhasha Vibhag in 1997.

"Sukhmani Sahib" is a "Sikh Prayer" in the form of a "Song of Bliss" to bring everlasting peace and comfort to the human mind. The sound vibrations from the recitation of Sukhmani Sahib work as tranquilisers and stress busters. Sukhmani Sahib opens one's heart to live in gratitude; steadies one's spiritual discipline; and connects one with one's inner strength, endurance and courage. One feels closer to the Infinite Consciousness which helps one to overcome every obstacle in life. Listening to or reciting Sukhmani Sahib once a day can change one's destiny from misery to prosperity and give one inner peace, balance, grace, radiance, energy and the power to sacrifice.

The word 'Sukhmani' means the "Psalm of Peace" or "Jewel of Bliss". This Bani/Scripture has structural unity. It has 24 Staves/Saloks that begin each of the 24 Cantos/Ashtpadee. Each Canto/Ashtpadee contains 8 stanzas. Each stanza has 10 lines i.e. is 5 couplets. There is also the unity of theme i.e. the perfection of a human being, mentally, morally and spiritually. The Stave/Salok of each Canto/Ashtpadee, gives the gist of the stanzas that follows.
