Question for CNN/YouTube Republican Presidential Debate (Nov 28 '07)

Text: "Most Republicans want smaller government. Yet total Federal spending has nearly QUADRUPLED since 1981. Republican politicians could have stopped this. They controlled either the White House, or both houses of Congress, for 24 of these 26 years.

"QUESTION: For any candidates who CLAIM to favor cutting Federal spending, please indicate HOW and WHERE you'd seek these reductions, and -- since the GOP's government-shrinking track-record is so dismal -- WHY anyone should believe you'll actually DO this?"

  • Excellent Q. I have something to add to this. The government has gotten bigger not just fiscally, but socially as well. The GOP has directly contributed to the incres in government's size by taking away a woman's right to abortion services and by taking away our right to privacy. So, it is a double-barreled assault on our lives that the GOP is doing. Sadly, the GOP has become the party of big government.

  • Wow, this is the first fiscally conservative question that I have come across, I hope they pick it.
