cont.... OR are they BOUND to stick with "Traditional Chamorro dance" just because of their blood? I live in Las Vegas and there are no REALL Traditional Chamorro dance groups, so my kids dance Polynesian and Hip Hop. If we had a group here teaching traditional Chamorro dance, you better believe my kids would be there. But I grew up in the States myself and was never taught. One thing I WAS taught was RESPECT for ALL CULTURES, which is something that you seem to lack.

@CHAMORRITO, my ONE negative comment about this video would be that the title needs to be changed because this is not a "Chamorro Dance". BUT ... you say that Polys like the fact that Chamorros are promoting their culture and THAT is the reason they have never been disrespectful to us?? Okay, then what about this: would you have a problem with a group of Chamorro kids dancing Hip Hop or Street Dance?? Would you put hateful comments on THOSE videos?

@marielm77 Polynesians like the fact that Chamorros are promoting the polynesian culture. So they dont say anything to you about it. As long as Chamorros continue to promote the hawaiian-polynesian dances, the more exposure it is for the polynesians. Yet the Chamorro culture and heritage is still not known because of this misinformation through these ¨so called" Chamorro dances.

@Tap1ZBar I agree. It is the Hispanic element and heritage of Chamorros that brings a different flavor to our dances. This performance in this video is shot at the Chamorro village in Agaña. All the buildings are of the old spanish style architecture. Yet despite the backdrop of the spanish architecture, you seldom see our Chamorro hispanic dances performed there. Our hispanic dances are unique in the Pacific and unique also in the hispanic-latino cultural realm. BIBA GUAM. BIBA CHAMORRO.

You all should be ASHAMED of yourselves!! This video is of CHILDREN dancing. And to attach such HATEFUL WORDS to this? What the hell is wrong with you??
Also, I have many Polynesian friends and let me tell you that NONE OF THEM act as disrespectfully as the ones that posted on here. So I do know for a fact that they do not represent the majority of their island/culture. Grow a heart and save the HATE for a more adult forum. ONE PEOPLE, ONE LOVE!!

Chamorro's are not trying to be Polynesian and were also not Copycats.
Most of our Original Culture was lost during years of outside influence, more so than any other group in the Pacific,so today we are trying to reconstruct it by means of incorporating ideas from other parts of the Pacific Region...We meant no disrespect to Polynesians or any other Islander Groups.
