Bringing Play Back to the Gulf Coast. The days, weeks and months of recovery following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita has taken a severe toll on the Gulf communities, particularly on the children who live there. For many, homes and schools have been destroyed and friends have moved away. Finding a safe place to play amid the debris and clean-up effort is difficult, if not impossible. Since having safe places to play really is vital to help restore a sense of community and childhood, KaBOOM! introduced Operation Playground: Rebuilding Playgrounds, Restoring Childhoods, a new two-year initiative to build 100 playgrounds in Gulf Coast communities affected by the hurricanes.
I would like to join in this look fun:)

The playground at Candlelight Oaks serves children of all backgrounds who live in the community. This build was not related to Operation Playground, however countless children will enjoy this playspace for many years to come. KaBOOM's mission is "to provide a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America." If you live in a community that needs a playspace, I encourage you to rally your community and contact KaBOOM! It's a great community-building experience!

It's a really great idea. However, the first playground in Houston, TX was built in a wealthy, mostly white subdivision in their very private pool area. I'd be amazed if our neighbors from Acres Homes were allowed to bring their precious little black children here. I don't think this is what Rev. Run had in mind.
