  • Gather up all the Christmas leftovers in my house for starters...they could feed a family of 10 for weeks.

  • Farmers in poor countries cannot make enough money to sustain their business because rich countries overproduce grain and try to off load it in these small markets. Simultaneously, wealthy countries push poor countries to dismantle their trade protections on local agriculture further weakening the position of poor, small farmers. When local scarcity occurs the only reason food does not get to those in need is because they cannot afford the price in the global market. We need local production.

  • Great to know

  • It is so important to create awareness of the extreme crisis facing the world. World Food Day on Oct 16th will draw attention of the world to the extremely damaging effects of hunger, poverty on learning and development. Langley Secondary School will use October 18th to generate understanding and awareness of the food crisis facing the world.
