Same solo 3 times, 3 different rigs...Guess which is which.

All three rigs are different sounding rigs, they are NOT clones of each other.
Rigs, not in order:
Egnater Seminar Head (modded) 50w EL34
Suhr OD100se+ 100w EL34
AxeFx Ultra

Guitar is a Suhr Modern with Doug Aldrich pickups and EMG SPC tone control.

I will post the answer after a few hours on the guitar forums.

There is an explanation after the performances and also a lesson breakdown of the solo. I have done this solo lesson before but there was a mistake on the second major run that is now corrected.

  • It's funny, but the Axe Fx almost sounds too perfect in some way. Maybe just a little less organic. Toss up between OD100 and Axe Fx. When you were playing the Axe FX I saw you reach for the guitar's tone knob as if you were making sure it was on full treble. Just a little more sizzle on the top. Just a little. Maybe even just al little more around 1000 kHz and some off the very bottom.

  • @jackbad2

My tone control is actually an EMG SPC active tone control (mid boost) :)

  • HERE IS THE ANSWER:

    1. AXEFX

    2. EGNATER

    3. OD100se+

  • @samhillband I guess you used the same speaker cabinet for the Seminar and the OD100. At least they sound very similar and quite different from the AxeFx.

BTW. What mods do you have on the seminar? I have a verified schematic somewhere, but haven't yet heard the thing live and I'm uncertain about building it. Reason I ask is that you get a truly killer tone out of that thing.

  • @FusionHelsinki I only changed the value of one resistor, and I really can't remember which one..lol.

The head I have is the last revision. It has the tube buffered FX loop.

  • @FusionHelsinki The tone of all versions are essentially the same, difference being the FX loop and Bruce changed the last version to be more bedroom friendly as far as the volume knob goes.

Talk to Bruce he is a great guy and he may just give you a schematic since he doesn't do the seminars anymore.

  • I like the 2nd best, too gainy on the other two

  • the Axe-Fx is by far the best on this.

  • @jackbad2 hm - the axe-fx sound more open to me. There is a life to the direct to board sound which is amazing.

  • @samhillband the ax-fx sounds to most open - wins hands down for me!

  • Both them are with same configuration?

  • OD 100 is the most balanced of the three

  • @RichardA5150 you are not the only one champ..honest i enjoyed the axeFX MUCH more than the egnater the OD was the second choice to me..

  • EGNATER is PURE ROCK!!!!!!!
