The Delica is one of my favorite EDC blades. And with all the hundreds of PMs I get regarding EDC knife options, it's time I made a separate review of the Delica and place it in one of my specific playlists to aid my subscribers' research. As addressed in the video however, the current Delica 4 is less preferred by me than the previous generation Delica 3. That's because it's heavier, has unnecessary steel liners, a smaller pocket clip, and a steeper grind. The Delica 3 was nearly perfect and it should have been left alone (except for adding jimping). The Spyderco Delica is not a tactical or heavy-use EDC blade and adding stainless steel liners, albeit skeletonized, was a dumb move by Spyderco. Of course for most users the mere .6 oz addition is forgiveable and the Delica 4 is still an outstanding EDC blade option. There's still LOTS to like in the Delica 4: Fast deployment, tight lock-up, perfectly sized blade (not too big, not too small), excellent clip that's reversible, adequate traction on the grip, and it's light enough. And it features the excellent VG10 steel. Indeed, despite it's "improvements" the Delica 4 is still at the top of my list for EDC choices. • worrying about .6 of an ounce when most of us carry 20 extra pounds of fat around our waist makes no sense.

  • @dustinshawnjarvis The extra 20 lbs of fat is the part that makes no sense. Keep in mind that when he talks about weight, he's talking about weight as part of a system. Those ounces add up and can make the difference between making it up the mountain or not. Check out some of his adventure videos. If you've ever talked to guys that climb the big mountains, they will tell you all kinds of tricks to cut down weight...like taking the cardboard ring out of their toiletpaper. It adds up. -- Veri

  • @knifeman2000 LOL its not gonna work that way.just use your common sense.

  • take apart the delica 4 and take out the steel liners

  • @dustinshawnjarvis If you'd like to think you are in the majority, that's your deal, but some of us get off the computer now and then.

  • @dustinshawnjarvis ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain.

  • so mainly what I got out of this videos is that the spyderco salt one is the ideal knives for nutnfancy except its not VG-10....it has no steel liners, same dimensions as delicas and has jimpping. It'll be even better if it had ffg in h-1 as well....I'd like it

  • It looks ready.

  • @juggalomike19 it is all the same materials in a smaller knife. same looks too. this is basically the endura's little brother.

  • I just got one as a gift from my dad a few minutes ago! It's scary sharp! I was shaking a little when I was checking it out at first. It's the sharpest knife I've ever had!

  • @dustinshawnjarvis The fact that you assume everyone has 20 pounds of extra fat on them doesn't make sense. I for one don't, and I'm sure a significant number of viewers don't. If you do, then why are you criticizing others for it? If you don't, then your comment doesn't even apply to you and thus makes no sense.

  • 12:48 "just a little bit lighter" haha!!, your tha man. I am just as obsessed with weight as you are
