Helvellyn is one of the high peaks of the Lake District in the north-west of England, and I used to roam around there as a teenager - over 45 years ago. The summit is reached by either of two narrow paths, each with a fairly sheer drop on either side, known as Striding Edge and Swirral Edge. It's an exhilarating place to be in summer or winter and, though not particularly high as mountains go, is dangerous enough if not crossed carefully. Pics in the video are by courtesy of Tim (Zhukov101) and, if you want to see Helvellyn in its various guises, go to:

In this tune, I've tried to evoke the changing moods of Helvellyn by creating what Adrian Legg would call a "built" melody, with multiple tracking. I play keyboards, guitars and bass. I was going to use an electric guitar for the overdriven sound, but found that my little Martin did OK with the right pedal...

Our only rule is: Respect each other.
Your music suits the mountain beautifully, and is very easy to listen to. I thank you for it.
There is a wimps way up Helvellyn; from the Thirlmere side, there is a small car park by the tiny church there. Path's obvious (via Dollywaggon pike); you hardly need your hands at all. Probably needs a more sedate tune from that way!

Yes - done Dollywagon many years ago (and Pavey Ark, Sergeant Man and Stickle Pike, etc...) - but you can't beat Striding and Swirral Edges for the real thing. :-) Will
