It can damage the battery if you put it on cement for a long period time. You wouldn't want it to sit for a week or longer. But just putting it on the cement for like he did won't hurt it. This is from my father because he works on tractors (he also knows this form before) but it wont hurt to sit it down. If you don't think that is right than you can show me some info on that.

For the sake of science, please thumbs down @3wheeler016's comment. There is NO reason not to put a battery on cement.
