Iran has the capabilities of being the sole economic powerhouse of the region, surpassing Turkey. It surely has the middle class and an abundance of resources to do so.

I do agree that the Islamic Republic's handling of the economy has not been great, particularly under Ahmadinejad, but it also has to do with Western sanctions. The West does not want to see a powerful Iran, because a powerful Iran would mean the end of American hegemony in the region.

Firstly, I want to see a source that Afghanistan has an inflation rate of 13%.

Secondly, let's ask ourselves (while putting our emotions aside) why Iran's economy is really suffering? Economists estimate that if ALL sanctions imposed upon Iran by the West were to be lifted, Iran's economy would grow by a whopping 23%. I must remind you all that Iran has been under sanctions for over 30 years, whilst induring an 8 year long war.
