    If you plant it upside down it'll sprout in China and you'll have to import it all over again. Break the cycle - plant it correctly.

    Crazy-I had some garlic cloves just sitting on my stove, and after a few weeks I looked at them, and they sprouted! Its neat. No water. Then I planted them.

    I live in florida where we don't really have a notable winter chill, would it be okay to plant garlic still? It might seem like a silly question, but I am curious if the chill is needed as a sort of catalyst for the garlic to grow.

    The top should be cut, after initial drying, on seed garlic. I think it wicks mosture during the june thru october storage.

    Just FYI to break up a bulb quickly take the base of it and put that in the palm of your hand, find a flat hard surface and press the head of the garlic directly down adding pressure until the galirc bulb simply falls apart into a bunch of individual clovess, takes about 3-5 seconds per bulb.
