I put this ball mill together using a second hand 12 volt motor ($20NZ) and a few old scraps from around the workshop.

The tin holds 1 litre. I used lead fishing sinkers, the largest I could find as media. On the first test it appears to be able to mill 250g for black powder in 2-3 hours.

  • 240p, we meet again...

  • I want to ask....

what you use the motor to rotate the ball mill?

please reply, because I want to make it

  • @UTubeisSHIT523441 Well, not really. My BP out of the mill burns very great, although I granulate it anyway. I use it as liftpowder for mortars and it works as fine as ballmilled or handmade BP, so I don´t think, it´s bad. And when you think, I got my fingers on the grinder while working - don´t be stupid.

  • @DavidRothe There is no way you can coffee grind the BP SAFE, and even if you succeed the coffe-grinded BP will burn like shit, unless you transfer it to BP to balll-mill for another hour, or two..

  • @UTubeisSHIT523441 Black powder does NOT ignite because of friction. The stainless-steel-inner parts of the grinder does NOT provocate electrical discharges(by the way: BP doesn´t even ignite well with electrical sparks of that short time).

Try it. Take a small amount of BP, and hammer on it as often as you can. It will not ignite. Take a little piezo-igniter(7.000 Volts out of an electric lighter), and try to ignite it. Have fun.
