@rack9 i have a hermatoma on my thigh from a truck hitting me and a year has past and its still very large. you said that some of the blood had clotted inside how long did you have the lump for ??cause im hoping that mine will completly drain.

Looks like they couldnt find the blood while poking around but when the needle was being pulled out they hit the blood and it filled the syring up fast. My guess is they went a little to deep,lol

eww...that looks awful. Hope it wasn't too painful. Do they numb it before sticking that big ole honking needle in your knee?

I had knee hematoma surgery 2 weeks ago left knee. It then swell up to twice its size with fluid. I had a knee draining yesterday and its filled up again. Due to have a 2nd drain next week. Is this common and when does the swelling stop? I really do not get much info from the Surgeon doing this.

hematoma= blood... basically a bruise.
It hurt like crazy with the doctor moving the needle around trying to suck out any blood/fluid in there. As it turned out, the hematoma was a bit old and so the blood was clotting inside... I still have a bit of a lump below my kneecap where some of it never flushed out.
