The USS Shangri-La (CVA-38) exhibit is located on the 2nd deck Starboard side at Frame 155 to 160. It is just aft of number 3 elevator aboard the USS Hornet (CVS-12) berthed at the former Naval Air Station Alameda (NAS Alameda).

  • I served on the Shangri-La -last cruise 1970-Nam-I was in M division Evaps Foward and Aft-I would really love to hear from some old ship mates that made that cruise-I was on watch in the Aft Evaps when we lost the screw--I never seen the #3 shaft spin so fast as I did that day--and talk about all the Brass coming down the stairs--I couldn't salute fast enough--lol--

  • My dad helped build the Shang and was on the maiden voyage. He was on the ship till he got out of the Navy, his name was Edwin Lafayette Keen and he worked down in the engine room. Great video would love to go to this museum one day!

  • I served on the Shangri-La from 1963 through 1965 and was the ship's pharmacist.
