World road race champion and Tour de France green jersey winner Mark Cavendish wins the 2011 BBC Sport Personality of the Year award.

An "honoured" Cavendish becomes only the second road cyclist to win the award after Tommy Simpson claimed the prize in 1965.

he is an inspiration as he said "we are doing so well because we are putting so much in" and because hes put so much in he is repeaping the rewards he may come across as arrogant and up his own backside but thats because he's so passionate and driven to win for his country and team hes been the first to thank his team everytime hes one wether its HTC or GB hes been so grateful and as a young cyclist that makes me want to succeed a great ambassador,role model and a ledgend already
