This would be my last shot before hanging it up and preparing for the La Plata stop. I'm almost certain that we broke the 90 mph speed limit through MO as we departed Ft. Madison at 11:17p and arrived in La Plata at 12:20a.

  • Regular schedule is !:09 running time meaning departure to departure time. So allowing 3 minutes for station dwell time, that would leave !:06 running....BUT if Amtrak does not go into the 10,490 ft siding at Fort Madison they can get up and go immediately to 90 and not have to go thru the siding at 30 mph. It looks like your train was running left handed as you passed that freight, which meant at LaPlata you would not have been on the platform, unless you crossed over.
