the surge hasn't worked. the point of the surge was to meet 16 benchmarks that... guess what? HAVE NOT BEEN MET.
violence dropped, sure, great. but the second all those troops leave the violence will be the same.
so the "surge", so far, only works as a permanent increase of troops policing a foreign area. so basically we have just moved more soldiers into an area they can't leave, which will weaken our overall strength at home.

Your blind allegiance echoes the sad cries of the millions who have put their "hope" in the "change" that ambitious socialist leaders offered to people before the enslaved the people that worshiped them blindly. Your interpretation of the surge is ridiculous at best, and no expert would even get past your first sentence before disregarding you as incompetent and just a political worshiper.

""We added 30,000 brave American troops, and violence is down, as everyone suspected it would be."
--Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs, July 7, 2008
That's a spokesman. One of McCain's spokesman said that a terrorist attack inside america, he thought, would be good for John McCain's campaign.

I have read repeatedly that what set Obama above the rest is his sound judgment.

Is this a prime example?

Sure it is. Now he is photo opting and looking for troop votes. Fact finding after the fact. Changing his mind on troop surge and relocating troops to Afghanastan. Bring them home? Lies

Quite frankly, a president who refused to change his/her mind ever would be a fool. I would rather a president respond to a changing situation by pursuing the most effective option (even if the idea wasn't his), instead of a president who refuses swerve despite information that would cause a sane man to. I would like Obama to say 'The Surge worked. I was wrong' just like I would want McCain to say 'I shouldn't have supported GWB's war to begin with. I was wrong'

"I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, I think it will do the reverse."
