Why hasn't this been done already?

Seriously, everyone and their mother has a cover of Magnet, and there are dozens of really good English translations floating around the 'net. I can't be the first person to have thought of this, can I? Especially when Leon and Lola's Japanese cover is filled with comments calling Lola a transvestite and Leon a girl...

Anyways, I had to do SOMETHING. I love working with these two, even though I can never seem to get them to sound how I intend and they really, really like stumbling over their words. And look, I figured out attack icons! Mordent attack = total, unadulterated love.

Y'know, now that I've worked with both programs, I'd say that Vocaloid1 is superior to Vocaloid2 when considering Engloids. I spend half my time simply adjusting phonemes, so the easy-access phoneme box is an absolute blessing compared to the menu navigation of Vocaloid2. Unless, of course, I just haven't figured out Vocaloid2 well enough and am missing some critical detail, which is entirely possible. Oh, well.

I used reggydayo's translation with just a few modifications, as it is pretty and it rhymes. Her channel can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/reggydayo

The MIDI itself was pieced together from Yura Honya's ten-part UST, and I'm surprised I actually timed it into one MIDI properly. Go me.

And, if anyone has Big Al and would be interested in doing an Al/Ann version, let me know. I'd love to do it myself, but I've not got him.

  • Um, do you think you could upload it to somewhere else besides mediafire? Mediafire doesn't work on my computer...

  • @80sgirl123 Sure! Check the description; I'm not familiar with 4shared, but that should do it.

  • their Mother?

  • @mewlava Er, a colloquialism. I didn't really mean it literally.

  • THIS = WIN. Nothing else I have to say. Did you use Gender Factor 56 on Lola? I love this setting, makes her sound all womanly <3

  • @EnbukyokuAline Yep, exactly. That's the magic number, methinks. Anything less, she turns into a chipmunk, anything more, she can't hit high notes. Thanks!

  • 1:29 I need Youtube (to) restrain me, and Youtube lick me more and more.

  • I love the idea of engloids but whenever you hear the songs they suck(talking about actual engloid songs not this fandub)....and the engloid characters kind of do too expect for a couple. I like the song though!

  • Isn't that Sweet Ann in the pic?

  • actually.. you know i just found out about the original english vocaloids today.. and i still prefer the japanese ones it just sounds more flowy? but.. i can actualy understand these great job.. i'll look into them more

  • You actually made Lola sound like a woman! Nice job!

  • i think they are rele good except how they stumble over words.

  • Lola sounds like ronka from ouran englosh version....a dude with a girly voice......i dont like her voice.-,- ...Good job on english version though! :D

  • I'm sorry... but Leon looks too much like America from Hetalia here... O_O

  • @AngelEmfrbl I actually am not very into soul music either xD though i love me some Beyonce ._.

I still think it's all based on opinion, since I do know many white people who can sing soul. :U Heck, I know a mexican who can sing soul! xD But yeah. Though you are right, Leon and lola pull off the soul voice very well (well...duh, they were programmed for that...) But yeah. (Sorry I start like, three sentences with 'but yeah.' xD I'm sort of out of it today,)

  • @takashitheswordsman I'm actually not into soul music myself, and don't have any favourite black singers, nor am I black for that matter, mentally I always image at least one of them as black. There are very few white singers that can pull off the rough, raspy soul voice as well as the black singers, and both, especially Lola most of all, pull that voice off.
