I've also studied fanbases and fan contributions as part of coursework, how they react, how they respond, and how (in the nicest way possible) proceed with textual poaching(i.e. writing fanfics, drawing fan art etc) and I know that some fans take what they like about a product and shun what they don't. Of course, this occurs with any media product. Hence, the design of FF has been revised to suit those who love effeminate males and the like.
