I always LOVED Agnes Moorhead!!! I've never seen these photos of her so thanks for posting, minus that horrible song. It was well known she was a lesbian but if that is not true how and why did this rumor start???

@fuhoney Sorry you don't care for the song :-P The photos come mostly from duelingheads.tribe.net/ aggiespicturepalace.blogspot.c­om. As for the matter of her sexuality, I do not remember how that rumor started. Nor do I really care to be quite honest. I believe that a persons sexuality is between them and their lover. So, it's not really something I'm too hung up on.

Charles Transberg's book on her sheds better light on it. All major evidence is she was not. Her own open gay road manager of 12 years, Quint Benedetti, maintained she was neither lesbian or bisexual. He knew her personally and drove her all across the country for her one woman show where she talked on personal topics to him and he perceived her to be very devout in her faith. I believe he would be the better source of information than speculation.

@MegaWolfgang Yes, she was a part of that. I think she did some of the screams. If I listen really closely, I think I can hear her. She also did a lot of radio in the 40's-50's. You should check out Suspense with her. She was wonderful on that program.

I read somewhere that she did a lot of radio back in the 30s and she was one of the cast in the 1938 Orson Wells 'War Of The Worlds' broadcast which panicked so many people? Does anyone know if this is true?

Agnes had an element of mystery in her acting that kept you glued to her. I think this also kept her from getting type cast. To play Endora was a plateau in her career where she proved that she really could do it all. I always thought she looked kind of hot when she smiles. Or maybe it was the blue eye shadow??
