@musubi69 as you said, its a metallic "strip." Which means it goes across the whole bill, top to bottom. Only a small section popped. If she were to put the euro bill back inside the microwave, nothing else would happen. The rest of the metallic strip would stay intact.
According to your logic, why didn't the rest of the strip get affected?

It isn't a chip. It's a metallic foil strip for authenticating the bill. Anything metallic in a microwave sparks and pops, because the microwave waves bounce off of it rather than go through it like food and other material. That's why they say not to put metal in a microwave.
