@veXati0n If you studied Law, you might see how the Founders rid our society of Victimless crimes as they experienced from King George of England. The mountains of evidence you talk about ith the innocent man might be total BS if it's a Victimless crime / hypothetical crime that the govt uses to profit off the backs of the people.
The Judges, Prosecutors and Lawyers who have manipulated an income from victimless crimes are worse than Saddam Hussien ... they are corrupt criminals!

@ben5017 I'm studying this topic and noted that criminals can escape life sentences if they plea bargain. Plea Bargaining also can screw an innocent man who is fearful of an intimidating prosecutor claiming to have a "mountain of evidence". If the innocent man elects to go to trial, he may lose and be sentenced to life imprisonment. However, if he takes a plea bargain, he has to agree to a guilty plea to a crime he simply did not commit. Is a life sentence worth risking? Yeah, that's fair.
