This is a test of the JVC Everio gz-hd300 zoom capability. I am zoomed about 50x (20x optical and 30x digital) in this clip with a manual focus setting and manual brightness. The color is reddish because it was a low altitude on the horizon. The Everio Media Browser software it came with will not upload in this quality and is sorely lacking in HD upload to youtube quality options. I uploaded the raw .mts file to youtube doing the manual upload instead of the youtube upload features this cam highlights. The Everio software mangles the resolution if you go through the software and cam. I would love to film a night sky meteor shower/stars in manual mode so if any of you have had success, please let me know or post a video response.

  • hola! I have the jvc also HM300, and results in night pictures are not good. With natural light of day, is pretty good. I believe I can improve the picture in low light conditions. Greetings!

  • @ddstalta You have to manipulate the manual brightness settings for optimal night shots. You have to go to brightness settings in manual mode. Use the (t) and (w) lever to adjust brightness levels. The night shod mode isn't enough unless you like that "green hue" aura about the shot..

  • How did you get this uploaded video avaliable in anything but 240 p? Mine are all stuck in low res once it's on youtube.

  • @SupremeAmerican Please read my earlier replies on the same question in the comments section.

  • Does any1 no how to put pictures from everio mediabrowser to your desktop?

  • @vzarou : Just because a cam isn't good at low light doesn't make it entirely worthless.

  • @mcanedo92588 : No. It does not do infrared illumination as this is a CMOS sensor. I have night vision cams and it doesn't pick up the IR from the CCD cams.

  • Hey, just wondering because it was a little hard to understand, but did you say that the camera can or cannot detect infrared light? I was wanting to try to take mine out at night and get some cool "night vision" footage with an ir flashlight, but I didn't want to waste money on one if this didn't work. Thanks

  • @fritzmusic but this cam not that good for low light is not good at all also daytaime it loosing also light

  • @DaveIsParamount This camera has 20x optical and up to 200x digital and the digital is pretty clean. I believe in this footage, I was up to the 70-75x zoomed so as you can see the digital zoom is pretty tight not introducing too much digital noise. I had to manually control brightness and focus parameters to get this clear of a shot. Yes, it has many of the commonly wanted manual adjustments as well as auto adjustments.
