I wanted to remix the Jay-Z version but removing the drums was impossible. Then I stumbled across Alicia's Key's version, without ,drums, and thought I'd give that version a go

Long answer: For this remix I used 2 diff softwares, 1) Adobe Audition to splice up Jay-Z's beats in his intro of his version of the song, then basically manually placed each drum/snare/hihat to form the main drum loop. After adjusting for a lot of non-metronomic tempos (Alicia didn't use a metronome when recording this), I exported the audio to 2) Steinberg Cubase to lay down bassline, warm pads, and various other subtle harmonic elements

Hahaha nice, thx. You know what, for pre-EDC this year, I just might do another one, I still had so many tracks I didn't use... And the last EDC mix was intended for non-trance listeners (vocal trance, poppier anthems, trying to coax ppl into trance) but the next one will be for true tranceheads, less vocals and less popular tunes.
