They over threw the democracy based on a request from Britain for assistance as they had nationalized their oil fields.

@Scuderiaferre It's important not to confuse sovreignty with ownership. If BP wanted a rig in my back yard, they would have to ask my permission as owner. And the oil would belong to them/me depending on terms of the contract. At no point would it belong to the US govt. And the US govt has no right to seize their or my property, and should be overthrown.

Overthrown either by we the American ppl, or by the British govt in defence of BP, if practical and if the stakes were high (huge oil fields)

@richardcadbury the oil well may have been theirs, but the oil itself belongs Iran. What if BP had a rig in your back yard? Just because they have a rig there does that make the oil rights theirs?

Fuck this. Those oil refineries belonged to the companies who produced them. The Iranian govt had no right to sieze them just coz they happened to be within Iran's borders. Nationalisation is evil. And govts that do it deserve to be overthrown.
