Millions of children are brought to the United States illegally without choice. Even though many of them integrate and become active members of their American communities, they face the hardship of not being able to go to college, drive or get jobs, and constantly fear deportation. This infographic Public Service Announcement illustrates the problem dealt by young immigrants and supports the Dream Act, a bill that gives residency to undocumented immigrants. People eligible came here as children, have been here for a substantial amount of time and are of good character. This bill was created to help dreamers in the country they call home: the United States.

  • Drop the "I" word

  • @GeauxNOSaints "PC whitewash", I'd like to see you explain how you glaze over people's entire lives and experiences by labeling them "illegal" and "aliens" and not paying any attention to the economic and social capital they bring to the US. Your argument is also invalid on another premise, documented immigrants would indeed like immigration laws to change, there are currently 16 year backlogs even for families qualifying under the family reunification exemptions.

  • @GeauxNOSaints Actually if you knew anything about immigration policy you would understand that "ilegal aliens" is a term that right wing pundits have labeled all undocumented and unauthorized immigrants. No one other than the right wing refers to undocumented immigrants as "ilegal aliens", not the immigration courts that look at their cases, not ICE officers, no statute of immigration law defines someone to be "illegal". Your conflict with "young immigrants" stems from huge presuppositions.

  • "...and supports the Dream Act, a bill that gives residency to undocumented immigrants. "

you should probably read the whole sentence first.

  • The DREAM Act doesn't give "young immigrants" residency in the U.S. It gives it to illegal aliens. "Immigrants" don't need the laws to change, they're already here lawfully. Enough with the PC whitewash.
