Faster than my macbook pro 13", is that because of the SSD?

the SSD makes it a speedy rival compared to the MacBook Pro 13", but also, the MacBook Air has a different processor. The speed of the processor is slower, but the Air has double the 'cache' and a faster 'bus speed'. These are very important
