Red Sonja was made in 1985 but looked as it was early 60's. Visual effects were bad and the acting was poor. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen can't act at all so I guess they focused on their look and YEAR - Arnold and Brigitte looked sexy and very hot that time but I still must admit that Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (1988), Legend (1985), Sheena (1984) and Big Trouble in Little China (1986) were much more interesting and with better visual effects

Schwarzenegger had admitted on an interview that this was one the worst films he had done, but still if you don't heavily cringe on the acting and the cheesy wardrobe, it's still had a good story, which made watchable. Believe today's movie about the Renaissance age, with the exception of Lord Of the Rings, 300 the Hobbit, Braveheart and maybe a one more but can't think of it, it's really more about flashy actors and CGI.
