In this third installment of Snapshots, Emily Lakdawalla reviews the threat posed by meteors, from relatively small impactors to massive planet killers. She also explores three critical steps to take in defending Earth, and how we may someday deflect an asteroid that is headed our way.

But dinosaurs are still very popular with us humans. For example there has been lots of movies that feature them (ie Jurassic Park, etc) and the subject of dinosaurs are forever popular with the young. Who can resist the awesome nature of the T-rex and the huge size of the Brontosaurus?

Afterall, we humans we live without dinosaurs. No human that has ever lived has ever seen a living live dinosaur ever. Despite 160 million years of successful living on planet earth, the dinosaurs met their demise by an estimated 10 kilometre asteroid that impacted the earth 65 million years ago. Humans are much capable than a T-rex in seeing off an earth bound asteroid safely.
