The date was April 17, 1982 at Bradley Bowl in Windsor Locks, CT for the Greater Hartford Open. Pete Weber, who made 5 prior TV shows in 1982 was knocking on the door for his first PBA title. Pete, just 19 years old, qualified 3rd that day, and defeated Jeff Bellinger, and the late Jeff Mattingly to meet #1 qualifier Pete McCordic. I remember the match as if it were yesterday. Pete was rooted on by his first wife, DeeDee. The Weber / McCordic match was another one that was tense, and went down to the final frame. Weber prevailed for his first PBA title, the $13,000 first prize, and qualified for the Firestone the very next week. 5 Years later, in '87, McCordic went on, as you know to bowl the first perfect game on TV in 13 years. In the announce booth was Dave Diles, who regularly filled in while Chris Schenkel was on assignment. It's too bad Dick and Pete never faced off on TV, that would have been something to see. On a personal note, I've followed Webers career from the beginning when he first appeared on TV at Garden City, NY in 1980 through present day. Pete is one of my favorites to watch. I hope you enjoy all the action of the 1982 Greater Hartford Open.

I won a JBT (Junior Bowlers Tour) tournament there a few months ago, and its a very nice bowling alley, it has great backend, nice pin carry. Very well maintained, and just a great bowling alley overall.

He left a soild nine pin? Back in 1982 those were almost impossible. He must've been using the AMF Angle on this telecast.
