Stampede killing females, children feared; 'no sign of Arctic recovery,' experts say. In other words, extinction of species is at hand! So, something must give in order for real changes to happen and very soon.
@KeinenGott No, I'm not, you are. Besides, I'm just the messenger and as such, I'm just delivering the message. The messenger doesn't have to "argue" about what is in the message. So, the message has been delivered. The world is not flat, it is round. Peace.
Of course the universe must exist for life to exist, and you missed my point utterly on my remark about cosmic evolution. I was merely stating that evolution in that term means something entirely different than differential success rate of genes. Which is obvious. You are taking his quote entirely out of context as did people in the days that he said it. He was a pantheist, using the word "god" as a metaphor for the universe. Look up his response to that quote about god and dice.
@KeinenGott Without "Cosmic Evolution" there would be no biological evolution. New stars are constantly being formed, while old stars are dying out. These are observable happenings, so "Cosmic Evolution" is also scientific theory. It's called astronomy or astrophysics. Evolution is change or a way of adding to the things that have come before. Even Einstein said there was a "Creator." Remember, you can't get something out of nothing. The "Creator" is more real than you can imagine!
"Cosmic Evolution" has nothing to do with biological evolution. Evolution is used in a different sense meaning just change when using it in terms of the cosmos or ideas. Biological evolution is a scientific theory, "cosmic evolution" is an expression. The commenter above is correct in his statement on evolution. "the creator is always adding" what about our loss of tails? Our shrinking and useless veriform appendix? As an aside, the concept of a creator is absurd.
@Isignorancebliss Sure there is, everything evolves forward. The Universe is expanding outward at an ever increasing rate of speed. The movement of time in general goes forward, not backward. The "Creator" is always adding.
@Isignorancebliss It's not really the endtimes, it's more like the transition-times. Humankind must now remember that there is a spiritual side to things, too. In other words there are spiritual consequences to actions taken in the physical realm. Just like the Afghanistan war. Not only does it effect the U.S. economy, but it also influences the spiritual realm. Which has unforeseen consequences for the economy. So, it really is about "new beginnings." What about the kids?
Lastly, I'm confused: you're concerned that the end times are here and yet you're also worried about what kind of world we're leaving for the next generation? If the end times are here, what generation is to follow?
Losing your eyes certainly doesn't sound like forward movement, but it's actually to the organisms benefit to not have eyes as they're useless anyway and prone to infection.
The real reason we should be concerned with the plight of the walrus and other animals is that they don't have time to cope with the current changes. The fastest time for a "new" species to evolve that I've yet heard of was an Acacia-related tree and that took ~4000 years (I'd source if I could recall off hand).
@jimbonumber9 There is no real sense of forward or backward in evolution like you are using it. If some sort of variation exists in the gene pool that allows some to survive better on land than others and land becomes the only place for them to survive, then those genes will become more frequent in the gene pool. Over time this could lead them to "evolve" to live on land. There are lizards (and others) who live only in dark caves who have lost there eyes completely. (see next post)
