I was very lucky to be taken to see, hear, AND PLAY this most AMAZING organ. It's truely a sight to be seen and heard. Many thanks to all who helped make this happen, and at such short notice. Enjoy! The wonderful playing is Wayne Foster - Organist in Residence at www.fccla.org

  • Yes, we used every stop on the organ. You can hear the trumpets beings used throughout this recording :-)

  • @MsPaigeTurner who is explaining about the wiring of the organ? The curators? I'd love to hear those chamade reeds in person!

  • @hartleymartin It is not air conditioned. The organ can have issues with tuning as I understand it.

  • I hope that place is double-glazed. I imagine that it must be like a giant greenhouse otherwise and the airconditioning would cost a fortune!

  • One of my favourite organs! But.... The bench seems to be empty during the Hour of Power with preference being given elsewhere. I am not enthralled with their "new" approach!

  • The hail storms in Phoenix would shatter this place.

  • Wayne was the organist at my church while he was attending the University of North Texas. Phenomenal musician and great guy all around. He would do recitals from time to time; there would be notes taped to the doors of the sanctuary warning people that the organ would be a bit louder than during worship services. Loved every minute. I was sad to see him go, but glad he was (and still is) doing so well. I may have to make it out to LA to hear him play sometime.

  • What a treat! I had the opportunity to study with Wayne several years ago when he was an organist in SC. Immensely talented! And in 2009 I had the chance to play the great organs at FCCLA while I was out there on business. The power of that organ is phenomenal but Wayne wouldn't let me take it home with me :-)

  • And marvelously untunable!

  • It's the sixth organ in the world by its size but surely the first by the richness and purity of its sound, as regarding the accoustics of the place as the clever and so unique composition of each part of the instrument, at least as far as I can improve it by listening such recordings (I didn't have the chance to get into the place and hear it directly)..

  • Awesome instrument1
