Or as NicTrain35 would say: SUPER ULTRA RARE OMG 16 LOCOMOTIVES LEAD ULTRA RARE BRCGAL TRAIN WITH EVERY RAILROAD EVER!!!!!!! LONG HOOD FORWARD BLUEBONNET SD40-2!!!!!! PLEASE COMMENT!!!!!!!

Ahem....So this is from March of 2006, but it's worth posting. I was at Fairview Avenue on the Racetrack when a 10-engine light power move went by me eastbound. I heard something on the scanner about the westbound M-BRCGAL losing power to one of its two on-line locomotives at Clarendon Hills. The crew didn't think they could make it up the hill at Westmont so they enlisted the help of this 10-engine power move to bring them to Eola Yard. Of course the rear engine of the light power was an SD40-2 facing forwards, so when they got the two trains hooked together, a long-hood-forward Bluebonnet was leading 15 other locomotives, with only the first 3 providing power.
Dang, how boring railfanning has become in the past three years - I'd kill to see that many SD40-2s in a week nowadays!

  • Love the impression of Nictrain35

  • @skinnyshit8888 I try. I still cringe when I watch this video. If this happened today, it would be nothing but GEVOs and Dash 9s.

  • good video. do you remember which kind of industry the train was passing?

  • That's the Pepperidge Farm bread factory. It's served by a local switch job almost every week day.

  • @thetrainguynk20 either that or the extra locomotives were needed somewhere else.

  • Yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick lash up but if the Santa Fe had been facings the other way then it would been a show but very rare for a 16 engine freight that train must a been very long i estimate at least 185 cars for that kind of lash up

  • AWESOME CATCH. million stars. They can have CEFX, NREX, CSX, NS, BNSF, Sante Fe, but not a Union Pacific and how come the first three engines were providing the power.

  • Sonuvabitch!

  • 16 engines and the CZ!!! Great catch!!

  • missing a more important railroad than BNSF......... UNION PACIFIC!!!

  • amtrash

  • Talk about determination. lol

  • Awesome!!!!! 5 Stars & a favorite. If U do not like this , then U must not be a real Railfan!!!!!
