There is no doubt that Entwistle is a good bass player but is very limited by the Who's music. I guess the question would be, can Entwistle play using the various styles and techniques that Claypool can? I doubt it...but I do know for a fact that Les can play, as one person so eloquently put on here "Entwistle's songs with his dick". There are rock musicians and there are innovators.

Les is a god, I'm convinced. I went to his concert and I tried to record him playing but after the first note he struck my phone tweaked out (new phone, pristine working condition) and wouldn't let me take video or pictures. But after the concert it was fine. Do not doubt his power
