The seeing was rough and i have dirt on my chip. Still trying out new toys here but the sun was so cool this morning i just had to share the view.
I know its hard to look at but there are few really nice sharp bits in there. Lots of tuning the H-Alpha filters and playing with different camera settings. Some of which looked pretty good for DSLR. I think i need an IR-Filter. Suggestions are welcome!
I converted the eyepieceholder on the Lunt (LS60THa DS) from 1.25" to 2" so i can attach a heftier eyepice and a camera to do some projection filming.
It now carries the Baader Hyperion Zoom (24-8mm) and the EOS 7d attached directly to the eyepiece via conversion rings and t-mount... It's a long optical installation on the diagonal of the Telescope which shifts the weight rather inconveniently and i can just reach the tuning knobs of the mount with a streched arm. All that while trying not to wiggle too much, adjusting the focus and sweating and shading the display with a towel over my head is very uncomfortable and makes me kinda rush it here and there. I turned the sound off because i am swearing a lot. Next time i will set this up with a "grown up" mount. I got a CGEM for my nighttime sessions which is computerized and doesnt need to be adjusted by hand, plus it is made for way heavier stuff than the puny Lunt and camera so it should be very steady since i dont have to touch it at all... So, hopefully i get a sunny morning and a few free hours to try and do this properly next time and hopefully the sun also will perform then. Hope you enjoy anyways!

  • Great video:) What is Sun colour through eyepiece? If it's dark red like in

other video I assume there is less contrast on surface detail and

prominences, so how did you get yellowish colour in one occasion in video?

Hope you enjoy your scope:) Is it a big difference between single stack and

    double stack ? Clear skies!

  • @Zox122 The color is indeed dark red and making out contrast is a bit tougher with the bare eye but once you are used to, it's doing a lot more for you than these videos could. It's pretty amazing. And i only take the double stack off the scope when i want to get better contrast on the prominences on the edge of the limb. Those come out better with less filtering... also the sunspots appear like little black specks without the second stack. The double stack reveals a lot and i wouldnt miss it.

  • @Zox122 oh and the color is achieved by turning my cam to black&white modus and putting a sepia filter over it. looked more attractive than just b&w ;)
