it may also be capable of feeling impatient, annoyed, jealous, or superior...

Or at least appropriately expressing these "emotions". Whether or not it ACTUALY FEELS them is a matter of whether or not it's actualy conscious, which is difficult to define empirically.

What is consciousness? My dog is as certainly conscious as I am but is a lizard? an ant? a single celled organism? wet dirt?

Perhaps emotion is a byproduct of enhanced mental capacities...

Hence why my semi-intelligent dog appears remorseful when she bites too hard and realizes she's hurt somebody ... but an ant never will.

My computer is incapable of human intelligence. It's just a big fancy calculator with a beefed up screen. But I suspect were it capable of writing its own sensible poetry with layered meaning, or it could tell me what I'm thinking based on my facial expression or body language beyond just a
