i think a bit of a tighter arc needs to be kept. and maybe wait another second on the sides and you wont get as much undercut and slag inclusions in places.

Hey, what settings do you like for 7018? I can't seem to see a difference between DC reverse (which I heard was recommended) vs DC positive. Liked your video-I saw the slag puddling during your weld and thought it was going to turn out looking bad-but I have to remember it is just the slag that is running if one keeps moving. Thanks!

@ChuckE2009 Good to know, yeah, even Jody from WeldingTipsAndTricks says he practices some. He's been welding for 30+ years. I guess practice will show! Thanks Chuck. :)

Well thank you :)

This depends on the test. Weaving is AWS okay, but Im told that the military doesnt allow it. If you are testing for a job, its whatever they want.

Lol Alright so tomorrow I will show all of you the right way to run a vertical up. One with weave and 3 pass. And make it look pretty.

My uphills always turn out under cut, they look smoother but I end up blowing a big hole. I guess I move to slow. Unfortunately I do not have any videos of my uphill attempts.

@Mr963291
It sounds like you're running too hot, try turning your machine down. "Smoothness" is determined by how far you travel vertically, with each pass.
