Cyprus's struggle with the sex trade - 28 March 08

Cyprus stands accused by the US state department of having the worst record for human trafficking in Europe, with campaigners saying as many as 4,000 women a year are taken to the island and forced to work as prostitutes.

Nicosia says the figures are exaggerated, but the government has told Al Jazeera it is planning new measures to tackle the traffickers.

In the meantime, others have taken on the fight - as Al Jazeera's Barnaby Phillips reports.

@skhackersk The prostitutes have their accommodation taken care of, they make good money whether you want to believe it or not and they are not working out on the street like they would in other countries. Hell they even have healthcare sorted. It's a business where the employees have to be taken care of in order to make money and the pimps know that. This Dark side is not as dark you think. And believe me no client ever gets smart with one of the girls, they are protected and respected.
