@dnecemusic man youre right , they only give the award to old crying bitches that do the same perfomance ever year by that i mean meryl streep , im so bored thatshes always getting nominated i hated her in julie and julia and i hated the movie too! lol

She Deserve it, i have seen Noomi the old Lisbeth and is not really great-

Her nomination was one of the best choices the Academy has made in years. It's nice to see younger actors/actresses getting recognition for their work.

now i know who she resemble as, she look like audrey hepburn, i think she should potray audrey hepburn,
-
she was just exceptional in the movie!!!!!! in my opinion she's the real winner of the oscars!

She's great but I'm rooting for Viola Davis for the help. She's amazing!!!

she's so cute when she smiles.

I believe Mara's Lisbeth is the best performance by an actress in a decade. I doubt she'll win. At least she got nominated. My favorite performance by an actor in the past ten years didn't - Clive Owen as Theo in Children of Men.
both Noomi and Rooney did great perfomances as Lisbeth , Noomi with a sweet touch and Rooney with a dark touch , and Rooney did scenes a lot more difficult than Noomi to be honest fincher s version is more graphic than swedish, but the swedish focuses a lot more on the racism than fincher s version in my opinion , both versions are unforgettable !

@pedrofredo that's a cool and valid point about the Swedish version, they did focus more on the racism and social issues which were very front and center on Stieg Larsson's mind, something he really wanted to put out there and shine a light on (from what one get gather reading about Stieg that is). So one important point to them.
I do hope Sony sticks with David Fincher for the next two movies (he makes mainstream art films like no other). More for us to love!

She won't win, and it's a shame. The oscars have the kind of movie they reward and Dragon Tattoo isn't it. Although she's my choice and I think the film was amazing! Look forward to the next two and bravo for Fincher going with Mara. She nailed this role, which was already portrayed superbly by Noomi Rapace. I think she deserves the Oscar for portraying the character in a way that we never pictured Noomi's portrayal at all!

@dnecemusic I agree with that, even though I loved the Swedish versions and Noomi's portrayal, I think Rooney brought the role to a whole new level. She really nailed this one and made Lisbeth hers in an unexpected and yet really faithful to the book way. I loved Fincher's film, he should've been nominated also.

@sopraver71 I would like to have seen the film nominated as well. I think it is an amazing film that deserves that recognition as one of the best films of the year. Again though, the Academy has the kind of movies they give awards to and Dragon Tattoo isn't it. It's sad. Take Rooney's perfomance and drop in in a Drama, and she probably wins! Take some of the graphic nature and adult themes of Dragon Tattoo and it's probably nominated (maybe need a tear jerking scene too). It's so sad.

@dnecemusic That's the really sad part about the Academy (for all the varied members they seem to have), they only go for one kind of thing: massive tears. And war. Or massive tears while at war.
Fantastic movies not fitting into this "formula": tearjerker, war movie, high drama, reenactment of major true event....get passed by.
Every once in a while they allow one mold breaker in (Silence of the Lambs).
Rooney really deserves a win! And I hope she takes it home for the Dragon team!
