Well, I think that whilst there is not clue/sign/hint of Zutara in the series, they would have made a steady couple (they certainly look good), alas, it goes by preference rather than something that would have been "better". I think the creators made a fantastic job in Kataang and it's of the two canon pairings I actually ship. They made a fantastic job with Katara/Aang development and there is clash enough to make it interesting and unforgettable.

This is one of the few canon pairings I ship, back when it first aired I loved them together. I didn't know about fandoms, ships or anything like that, I didn't even know what they were but I just thought they were so good together, and I still do n.n

It's more than the fact that Zutara doesn't exist, or that there is pretty much no evidence for either of them even considering romance with each other...
Kataang developed from the very first episode, slowly, beautifully, with poignance and countless adorable moments through the 3 Books. Whether or not you think Bryan and Mike should have written their story differently is your opinion. But Kataang was not foolishly played out, there's more then enough evidence...
