At the time of writing (27 Dec 2009), the Steam version of this game is really cheap:

  • This reminds me of Icewind Dale, without the all the ice. It actually looks really good. Do you happen to know the game time to this? Must be long.

  • Actually, it's not supposed to be that long (just a few towns and dungeons), but I bet the upcoming sequel will include a larger game world...

  • Really needs an Ipad port :)

  • I find starting out in this game is extremely hard. I rolled a mage and feel i need to stop and rest after every battle

  • @8Nifon8 Well it's an indie title so probably it means the developer is really greedy.

  • Oh yeah, I can hear Bjorn Lynne's midi tracks to this game; they must have licensed the music.

The character in this game looks like he walks so painfully slow... isn't there a way to run via "shift" or something? It begs to have fluid [fast] movement like Nox.

  • @CamRaiD 20$ is a high price indeed. But man... It was 2007 when game has been realised. I don't say this game is a bad or something, but it's just from 199x-2001 like diablo or arcanum/bdg/planscape. In fact we're all know this game is indy-like, so I'm wondering why this game is so high priced.

  • I just tried the demo off steam for a few hours, if you have a hankering for some nice laid back rpg looting, levelling and a bit of story, this is good. I feel at 20 dollars its a bit expensive at the moment though.

  • I tried out the demo for this and it was better than I was expecting, although I guess I like a bit more distinctiveness in a fantasy setting for it to be memorable.

  • I don't like rolling my attributes in the character creation. I'm more used to Fallout's system that lets you redistribute the attributes with a fixed amount of points to flesh out your own strengths and weaknesses, while Eschalon just randomizes the the min values of your attributes. It's really ridiculous to get most of my points on dexterity and speed for my rogue.

But Eschalon really deserved praise for its quick turn-based combat, while other games have each turn last several seconds.
