Fantastically music. I can definitely hear Andy Partridge and XTC's sweet, clever sound. Another one of the most impressive pop style bands to grace the music scene. Thanks!
Princeton Deluxe: Man, I am SO sorry that I am not one to check my E-mails. You are one lucky S.O.B! Isn't this one of the true shames of Modern Society, that a man like Martin Newell isn't performing before the Royalty of this world. This is EXACTLY why the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has ALWAYS been a SNEER and a JOKE to me...Andy Partridge, Todd Rundgren, Paddy McAloon....The list goes on and I know you have to good taste to know EXACTLY what i am talking about. True GENIUS, always LAST...
@PrincetonDeluxe Martin is a funny guy; he is quite aware of his abilities, but he doesn't seem all that dazzled with show business. He and I correspond frequently online on his website. Martin is the UK's most published modern poet at present, he writes a column for a newspaper, and is always playing gigs here and there. Google Martin Newell and visit "The Karma Scene," his guestbook and chat room for fans, friends, and family. You'd fit in like a glove, I'm sure. Let's hook up on there soon!
@PrincetonDeluxe For my mind, one of the best British "rock" records ever made. No one knows it though. Which is quite tragic. As good as Barrett, R Davies, N Drake, Morrissey in terms of songwriting. Every inch their equal. I don't think he realises it though.
@technothanks You have NO IDEA....without a doubt I agree with you. I met this extraordinary songwriter back in 2007, and we sat in his flat on a beautifully sunny May afternoon and sang it together while he played the piano. It was one of the greatest thrills in my musical career, and believe me, I have enjoyed many. Martin lives and breathes the music that he writes. A very cool guy, and also my favorite songwriter. Everything on this album rivals some of the best pop songwriters.
ONE of my FAVORITE songs-and I mean by ANYBODY, going all the way back past the BEATLES to LOUIS ARMSTRONG. There's not a person that I have turned onto this song that doesn't absolutely LOVE IT! So: One of the GREAT POP tunes. Brilliant all the way through....
Thanks!! :)
