I learned this Pinoy recipe of shrimp by myself. My aunt used to cook this, but obviously she won't tell me how she cooks it. I also never got a chance to watch her cook this because first of all, shrimp is quite expensive, and secondly she would cook this when I was at work. But it did not take me long to figure out how to cook this recipe. In fact, I can do this better than her. I experimented three times and then I got the perfect blend.

Sweet and spicy shrimp is basically just some shrimp cooked with something sweet and spicy. I would like for the shrimp to be unpeeled but Nunnie is too lazy to peel it that's why I peeled it before cooking. I did some research online and discovered that other cooks use Sprite and others use some sugar. I prefer the orange soda because it has a very good effect. In fact, I tried this Pinoy recipe with Sprite. It still came out good, but the orange soda gave this recipe a perfect flavor.

This recipe is already good without the hot sauce. But I really do suggest adding some Sambal hot sauce. You don't have to put a lot if you don't like spicy food, but the Sambal hot sauce will give it a very nice flavor. I am not a fan of spicy food but I can't cook this without the Sambal hot sauce.

When I first cook this sweet and spicy shrimp for Nunnie, it was a hit. He likes it a lot and in fact, he wants me to cook this over and over again if we have shrimp. He likes this better than shrimp tempura.

I believe this recipe is quite similar to the one that you can have at Dampa. I am not sure though because I have never been to Dampa. I wish I was able to visit that place before I left the Philippines.
