I am AMAZED at the results that I was able to achieve using Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD program! This is the ONLY program EVER that I was able to stick to for more than 2 weeks! Not only that, but I've accomplished EVERY SINGLE goal I set for myself when I began this program - the main one being to MAKE EXERCISE A REGULAR PART OF MY LIFESTYLE! I'm done with the 30 Day Shred DVD and have started doing Jillian's Ripped in 30 DVD 4 days a week. Even though Ripped is tougher than the Shred, I like this one even BETTER than the 30 Day Shred! Both of these programs consist of concise, simple and EFFECTIVE workout intervals! I can't say enough about Jillian and her 30 day workout DVDs!

I lost an inch off of my waist and hips AND [for those who are interested in numbers on the scale] I ended up losing 3 pounds....If you are going to do the 30 Day Shred, my advice is to NOT do 30 straight days of exercise. Take at least one day off a week...from everything that I've researched, it really isn't "good" to workout, at that intensity level, consecutively like that. But if you're looking for a workout DVD that's gonna get you up offa you butt and whip it in SHAPE, try the 30 Day Shred! I mean, it's a 20 minute workout, what do you have to lose??? [no pun intended LOL]

Thanks for watching!

  • I just finished day 2 of the 30 day shred and so far so good, but I feel like 20 mins might not be enough. Did you add your own cardio to the programme? Im thinking of adding some yoga.

  • @semt9 i didn't feel that i needed to add anything extra to the program. by the time i was finished with each workout i was drenched in sweat, breathing hard and my heat practically beating out my chest lol

  • Are you still exercising now that you have finished the 30 Day Shred? BTW today will be Day 9 for me. I am keeping a journal about the experience. Nervous about moving to Level 2, though. :)

  • @AYWalton YESSSS!!! you are doing GREAT!! keep it up! you will be glad you DID!

yep. i am working out 4 times a week - right now with JM's ripped in 30 DVD. level 2 is my FAVORITE of the three levels...be prepared to SWEAT!

  • I would love to see more. You got me doing more than I already was in terms of exercising. I have been doing the dvd but not everyday because I am also running distance. I think Black women should be just as excited about exercising as they are hair. How we take care of our bodies affects our hair anyway. I run in different races, ie 5K, 10K, 10 milers, hal marathon and we are so under represented. However, we crowd in the salon and beauty supply :(

  • @MsYorkman WHEW! you are a FOR REAL runner girl! goheadwitchobadself! i would love to get to that status...baby steps lol

  • Life is not all about hair! Mix it up! I loved following you on your 30 day journey! I started working out more right when you started. It was good motivation!

  • Regardless of the views, you never know who or when you're inspiring. For the first time in my adult life, I've starting running daily and you were part of my support system. Be patient with your subscribers, viewers may know that they NEED to take an interest in their health but feel defeated, so we tend to just ignore anything related to a healthier lifestyle. But, you never know when you might touch someone when they finally have that AHA moment.

  • @italianjen29 You're welcome! Found that site as well, I am trying to get the courage to try the workouts, they look super brutal! XD

  • @semt9 Thanks so much for the encouragement! :) P.S. I found a great website called Body Rock TV

  • @italianjen29 Knowing my fat percentage is one of the best things I could have done in the start because I know what's feasible now as well. I know what it's like to be unhappy and have that affect your eating and weight. That was me in the later years of high school...after freshman year of college i lost some weight because it had gotten really bad and then stagnated. Now I am pushing myself again and am almost 20lbs down :) Keep going and good luck! One day at a time :)

  • @italianjen29 HIIT (high intensity interval training) is basically a method of circuit training that basically gets your heart rate up with a specific amount of time to perform each exercise and a rest in between. If im being honest the yoga is the main crosstraining, and im getting more in the groove of pilates. I wish i could do more but i don't have a gym membership lol. So in between the runs i do whatever i can do at home.

  • @semt9 But you sound pretty active as well. Actually I'm convinced you do more than I normally do! I have no idea what HIIT is, and I have no patience for yoga... although I really should do it b/c of my skating. What kind of cross-training do you do? AT this point, I guess since it takes so much energy just for me to be able to maintain my weight at 160, my goal weight (140-145) Doesn't really seem attainable, so I'm just trying to keep in shape.

  • @semt9 Yeah right! Lean? lol, I don't think so! Right now I'm actually at the highest I've been in the last 7 years b/c I've had a really bad year. I went back to school and hated it, so I eat all the time, and between that and working part-time I was on the go 7 days a week, so I never had any time to myself. Last month I got hit by a car too, so I've been out of commission for month. I'm actually 175 right now, and normally, when I can workout like usual, I maintain my weight at 160 :(

  • @italianjen29 Wow, you are super active! I've definitely gotten in the swing of things (granted the last 2 weeks haven't been my most active ever lol), I now run three times a week and am training for a 10k :) I crosstrain on the other days and do HIIT, yoga and some pilates here and there. I try to do something everyday though i often rest sundays, and failing that I get my runs in. My first assumption is that you are lean since you're so active. Is your goal weight loss or to keep in shape?

  • @semt9 I'm a fitness nut b/c nothing ever works for me :( I def felt like Jillian's workouts were good but not enough. I used to do 45 mins of jogging or 25 mins of Nordictrack before doing the 30 day shred video. Then after the video I'd also do about 30 mins of ab exercises. I'd do this 3 times a week, and then another 3 times a week I'd workout twice a day (once in the morning, and once in the evening), and then I also figure skate 3 days a week too.

  • @5w33ti3 Ahh unfortunately i don't have an ipad or iphone, but i'll keep that in mind in case i do one day haha! Tomorrow will be day 22 for me so time has def flown and im keeping with it! Im hoping to find some kind of c210k to do next. Good luck with your program! :-)

  • @5w33ti3 I meant, has "great longer workouts too." The nice thing about the 15 minute ones is that you can add it to 30-day shred. The longer videos come in 30 min and 45 min lengths. When I thought more about your comments on wanting to workout out longer, I realized that my concern with 30-day shred is that I'm acclimating myself to ~20 min workouts and I'm not in shape to go longer (though I think it's a good workout!). So I'm doing the longer NTC ones a lot now too to extend my endurance.
