Apple iPhone GPS *Updated*

Demo of the iPhone 3G's GPS feature, with full motion tracking. Expect other software to take full use of this like tomtom turn by turn nav. This is A-GPS or assisted GPS. It takes use of local Wi-Fi hotspots mac addresses, local cell tower addresses and satellite GPS systems.

is the iphone GPS actually GPS or some stupid triangulation system with cell towers and these so called "wifi" spots? my car has GPS that's accurate within 5ft and it doesnt cost anything

it uses all of them. It's has A-GPS, which is real satalite positioning plus to speed up things it also utalizes cell and Wi-Fi. It's accurate to withen a few meters

I HAVE A QUESTION PLEASE! I have an unlocked first generation iphone but this gps motion tracking doesnt work on my iphone. is this for 3g only

Any ideas on turn by turn navigation? I have the phone but unfortunatly i ind the GPS fun but useless. GPS has two uses in my life. Sailing/Driving. I have a built in GPS system in my boat. GPS for my car would be great but apple seem to have banned it's development for the iphone. I guess at banned just because there are no apps. Turn by turn voice guidence would be awsome.

and in other news instincts network has crashed causing major blackouts with email and rev-a. Dipshit sprint crashed from having a shitty network. Apple crashed from trying to activate 9 million iPhones all at once
