watch the minecraft archives sugar cane harvester (i believe its in season 2) on Jared3118's channel and u will laugh at how much simpler it could have been. but i liked the video and think i will be subscribing to ur channel as well can never have to many minecraft letsplay they keep me busy and u get lots of opinions.

I will just give you one word of advice on how you could have made this more efficient. Instead of putting the piston below the dirt just put it on the side a block up so it could knock off the 2nd row and higher. It would save you plenty of time instead of restocking it.
