I was wondering do you make one batch of MMF and estimate how much you need for each piece of decoration, or do you make one batch for the decoration and then one batch for the cake. I am making a 13X9 cake and then need some extra for a bat and ball or whatever I choose to decorate the cake with.
Thanks so much!

@ghag3 Once it is already made and kneaded into a ball then you add the color and knead some more until combined.

I used gel food coloring (it's a liquid food coloring despite the name, but look specifically for "gel"). I'm not sure how many drops I used, but I started with 2 or 3, worked it in, and added more if it wasn't dark enough.

So you added it while you were mixing the mm or when you were mixing the mm with the sugar?

You add the coloring after you have completely mixed and kneaded the fondant. You'll have a smooth ball of fondant, stick a hole in it with your finger, and put in the drops of food coloring, then knead it (press and fold) until the color is even.
