This album only deserves 3.5 out of 5, while New Gold Dream earns a well deserved 4.5 out of 5. This album is a big step in the direction of mediocrity, and I believe the band never again gained artistic cred back. Anyone with a decent ear should be able to hear that NGD is a far more important statement than this; this is almost like an afterthought as compared to the 4 great SM albums.

Steve multi tracked mel's drums, so. like there/s more than 2 mels!! And why Simple Minds got panned as a lesser U2 I'll never understand. Way more complex song structure and composition. Plus, there's like 2 more guys in the band, innit?

MEMORIES!!!! I rememberbeing in Canada, 1987, Alberta with The Royal Hussars, as a Gunner in a MBT, blowing shit up and feeling pretty damn chuffed with myself.....i was completely transfixed by this album then, I have a foto of me sticking my head out of the turret of a tank, headfones on, during a lull in the exercise and just KNOWING i was listening to this!!!!!!
