The final part of the 11th January 1990 gig filmed at Newcastle City Hall. Annie Get Your Gun with Tempted over the credits. I wonder whether the sound recordist Paul Gunn is the same Paul Gunn who was their drummer before Gilson?

  • Whatever happened to these guys? Great music.

  • @babaradio They are touring right now. Saw them In Boston this summer, promoting "Spot The Difference" - awesome show! They were fantastic and sounded great!

  • @courtjester

Yeah! Was going to reply to babaradio but you beat me to it! Oh well, think I'll share my reply!

  • @babaradio

Well, Chris Difford recently did a lovely set on Songwriter's circle which was broadcast on BBC4 a couple of night's ago from a gig which was recorded in London a few weeks back. I last saw him live in my home town back in the summer where he did an intimate performance of his new album in front of 25 people in a room the size of my living room which was wonderful.

Glenn still does his solo gigs, Gilson is the resident drummer on Later.... with Jools Holland, since 1995.......!

  • Who's singing Tempted at the end?

  • @friendofsgran:

Glenn Tilbrook. Presumably it was performed at this gig but didn't make it onto the video.

  • Thanks everyone for responding to my question. I'll be on the lookout. : )

  • how old is this video, because looking at Mr. Holland, it must be early, he is a fat get now though, aye he

  • i had this on vhs too but its long lost now.....

glen tilbrook is totally amazing such a cheeky smile too, check out 112, i sooo would! wow!

  • Done! Enjoy!

  • Doh! Sorry, meant to say "Black Coffee". I'll find it and do it now!

  • Hi! Yeah it's a great gig. I have got "Annie" but overlooked it when I uploaded the rest. Will add it soon. I've met Glenn a couple of times and a really nice bloke he is too! Once I had the honour of playing "Take me I'm Yours" and "Goodbye Girl" onstage with him, and a couple of years back I was sound engineer for one of his gigs. I've also met Chris, John Bentley and Matt Irving but I sound like a name dropper so I won't say any more!

    Cheers

    Nick

  • hi...i love this concert..i had it on VHS for years!! the one song from the gig that stands out is 'black coffee in bed'...and it's not on youtube! I was upset when i couldn't find it! so please if you have it please could you upload it!!

Ive only seen squeeze once in 2008 and Glenn Tilbrook solo afew years before. I had the pleasure of meeting Glen and shaking his hand!! Can't believe it!

  • Nick, Don't think it's available in the US either; so thanks for sharing. I discovered Squeeze in the early 80s; and heard them for the first time live when they played at my college. I was 18 and remember dancing like a fool for the entire concert. Saw them in New York this past September in 4,000 seat venue that was virtually sold out. It was a great concert-they really rocked out-and I was so happy for them that they still attract such a strong and devoted crowd. Thanks again.

  • Hi Sue, Yes that's what I like about Mr GT and Squeeze. I first saw them on TV when Take Me I'm Yours was in the charts and not long after, Cool for Cats. Then I forgot all about them until I saw THIS gig on TV in 1990. I bought the video (this one) soon after and became a fan! It was called "A Round and A Bout" and has never been issued on DVD (at least not in the UK). I have the rest of it queued for upload which I'll do soon. Glad you like it! All the best.
